This feature can help to increase access speed, which is important for storing rich media files. The LTO-5 cartridge adds this feature while still retaining the hardware-based encryption introduced with LTO-4 technology, which helps to protect the storage and transport of sensitive information.

Love the LTO5 tapes and their long lasting archival system. Great for a small post house like mine.
good for back up
I always buy the Sony LTO-5 tapes. I use IBM drives, and I have had various issues with other brands, but the Sony tapes have been rock solid in all our drives.
We've ordered hundreds of these and only ever had one or two that have given us issues.
We use these tapes for our enterprise backups. We have never experienced a data recovery error from backup. WE used to use TDK until they decided that they were no longer supplying tape labels with their cartridges.
We have been using these for years without issue.
