HDCAM SR Tapes
Developed by Sony for the most demanding applications such as special effects, 3D, archiving and film mastering, the HDCAM SR format ensures outstanding picture quality and ultra-mild signal compression. HDCAM SR was introduced in 2003 and it uses a higher particle density tape and is capable of recording in 10 bits. The increased bit rate (over HDCAM) allows HDCAM SR to capture much more of the full bandwidth of the HD signal (1920×1080) HDCAM SR uses MPEG-4 Simple Studio Profile for compression, and expands the number of audio channels up to 12 at 48 kHz/24-bit.
